Nuticast is a menu-bar Mac app for iOS developers who need Xcode’s wireless debugging to keep working when the iPhone is on a different Wi‑Fi from the Mac. The phone must stay on Wi‑Fi; cellular doesn’t work.
Why it exists
I build iOS apps and often needed a real device when I wasn’t near my development Mac. The Simulator doesn’t cover everything a physical phone does, and Apple’s wireless debugging only works on the same local network.
I already used Tailscale. Once I had a reliable way to keep Xcode talking to the phone over that mesh, I packaged it as Nuticast and shipped it — then added ZeroTier and Netbird once other developers asked for their own mesh VPN of choice.
How it’s run
- Independent product — not affiliated with Apple, Tailscale, ZeroTier, or Netbird.
- No account system, no cloud relay, no telemetry.
- Licenses fund maintenance across macOS, Xcode, and mesh VPN updates.
- Discovery and pairing are free; bridging over your mesh VPN needs a license.
