Privacy Policy

Short version

Nuticast doesn't collect any data about you or how you use it. There's no account and no general usage telemetry. Device discovery and bridging use the CLIs already installed on your Mac (tailscale, netbird, zerotier-cli, dns-sd, devicectl). License activation and validation contact our license service; hardware identifiers used for activation limits are never sent to Google Analytics.

What the app stores, and where

Device profiles you create (display name, Bonjour hostname, mesh VPN provider, hostname/IP, port range) are stored in a local JSON file under ~/Library/Application Support/Nuticast/. This file never leaves your Mac and is not synced anywhere.

Network traffic

When a bridge is active, the app relays TCP/UDP traffic between your Mac and your iPhone over your own Tailscale, ZeroTier, or Netbird network. This traffic is between devices you control, over a network you already operate — it does not pass through any server operated by us.

Purchases

If you buy a license, payment is processed by our payment provider (Stripe), who collects the billing information necessary to process the transaction and comply with tax law. We do not receive or store your card details. See Stripe's privacy policy for how they handle payment data. Your license key is the Stripe payment or subscription id; we use it only to validate activations (up to your plan's device limit).

Website analytics and cookies

This website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and conversion events (for example: page visits, download clicks, checkout starts, purchases, and license activations). Analytics cookies and our custom conversion events require you to accept the cookie banner shown on your first visit — you can decline, and no analytics cookies are set. Google's Consent Mode may send cookieless signals while consent is denied. If you accept analytics and start checkout, your Google Analytics client and session identifiers are passed to Stripe as a checkout reference so a confirmed purchase can be associated with its original visit. That consented reference is stored with your license, and its first activation on a Mac can be counted against the same Analytics client. Buyers without this reference are not tracked by our server events. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site/ad tracking. See Google's privacy policy and how Google uses data from sites that use its services. Access logs on our hosting provider may still record normal web-server request metadata.

Claude and other MCP clients

The nuticast mcp command (and the Nuticast plugin for Claude that launches it) lets an AI client you choose, such as Claude Code or Claude Desktop, call Nuticast on your Mac. It runs only on your Mac, started by that client, and talks to it over standard input and output. We don't run a server for it and we receive nothing from it.

When the client calls a tool, Nuticast returns what the tool asks for, which can include: the names, hostnames, mesh VPN addresses and ports of your saved devices; the peer names your own Tailscale or Netbird client reports; names of iPhones found on your local network; bridge states; the devices Xcode can see (names and UDIDs); the last lines of the Nuticast log, which can contain mesh IP addresses and hostnames; and your license status (only the last four characters of the key). That output goes to the client, becomes part of your conversation with it, and is handled under the terms and privacy policy of that client and its model provider. Nuticast doesn't keep a copy beyond the local files and log described above.

The tools can start and stop a bridge for a saved device, and a diagnose can save a new port for it in your local device profile. They cannot delete devices, activate or deactivate a license, or install anything.

Starting a bridge needs an active license, so Nuticast may check it with our license service as it does when the app runs: your license key, the activation's instance ID and a hardware identifier of your Mac are sent to nuticast.com for that check. Nothing else leaves your Mac because of an MCP call.
